Ingredients and Tools Needed:
200 ml of water
50 grams of brown sugar
1 gram of brewer’s yeast
An empty 2-liter soda bottle
Knife or scissors
Tape
Steps to Create Your Mosquito Trap:
Prepare the Bottle:
Cut the soda bottle in half, just above the middle. You’ll use the top half as a funnel that fits into the bottom half.
Make the Syrup:
Boil the water and dissolve the brown sugar in it. Once dissolved, allow the syrup to cool to below 30°C (86°F). Speed up cooling by placing it in the fridge for a few minutes.
Mix the Yeast:
Pour the cooled syrup into the lower half of the bottle. Add the brewer’s yeast into the syrup without stirring. The yeast will begin fermenting, releasing carbon dioxide—what attracts the mosquitoes.
Assemble the Trap:
Invert the top half of the bottle and insert it into the bottom half. Secure the connection with tape to prevent mosquitoes from escaping.

Placement and Maintenance:
Where to Place: Put the trap in areas where mosquitoes are commonly found, such as near doors, windows, or outdoor areas like patios.
Multiple Traps: For larger areas, set up multiple traps to maximize coverage.
Refill as Needed: Every two weeks (or when bubbles stop forming), replace the syrup mixture to keep the fermentation process active.
Why It Works:
The fermentation process creates carbon dioxide, which mosquitoes find irresistible. The trap lures them in, and once inside, they can’t escape.
